I recently moved into my new home in Atlanta, Ga. There is a heavily overgrown area at the back of the property that I have dilligently been working on clearing out. I never had any idea what poison ivy looked like, since I had never before contracted it. (I'm 33). So, I didn't even think about it. Well, I came down with a nasty case a couple of weeks after I moved in after pulling vines and running various roots. So, I studied your site (great site by the way. Thanks for having it!) and became familiar with PI. So I was baffled when I came down with it again last week == and even worse. My arms looked horrible and I had to go get a steroid shot. RIght now, I am on the mend thank God. Well, after much studying and finally looking upward to the sky, I found the culprit! There is a stand of three tall but skinny pines, with a few young oaks underneath and a magnolia to the side. Well, what I had previously assumed to be a hardwood of some kind growing up beside the pine is a MASSIVE vine of PI. I got in closer to the trunks of the pines to take a look and found not one but two monster vines. One is a baby monster, but the other is about 8 inches across measured LINEARALLY. My guess is that the circumference is about 20 inches. I've enclosed pictures of both, as well as the foliage, which climbs to a height of about 60 feet on the larger one. Anyone ever seen vines this big before? Maybe I have, but just have never paid attention. Any advice on getting rid of it?
