Question Asked: From northern virginia. Am getting tons of these tiny plants in the mulch around bushes and flower beds. A friend says poison ivy.... is she right?
Answer: Hi Ann -
I'm in your same general area and see these pop up quite a bit as well. Nope - not poison ivy. Here's why:
- middle leaflet not on a longer stem
- leaflets not egg shaped,
- those initial leaves (at the bottom of the plant) are single and large.
No problems on pulling these. Now if you come across small plants that have the characterisitics we're used to seeing such as the middle leaflet being on a longer stem and the leaflet shapes, then proceed with caution. |
