Answer: Hi Chris -
I'm with you on this one - I believe you are looking at poison ivy. Even though I can't see the vines there are other factors here. The leaf and leaflet shape and configuration matches. In the first picture we see a black dot and black at the point where one of the side leaflets attaches to the stalk. Could this be oxidized urushiol oil? Not unusual to see black on damaged leaflets. The second picture is interesting in the amount of red we see both in the new leaflets as well as the stalk. We have seen this though in other northern area pictures. |
