Question Asked: I live in Central Massachusetts, and this plant is growing in my garden. It has an underground vine with multiple plants growing out of the soil along the way. The vine is sort of fuzzy, and the plants have three leaflets with the middle one the longest, so I think it may be poison ivy. I hope not though, because I have already started pulling it out. Thanks for your help in advance.
Answer: Hi Sam -
I've enlarged your picture, rotated it and stared at it for some time. My initial thought is that this isn't poison ivy. The fuzzy vine is one of the reasons I think this is something else. Poison ivy vines are woody. The 3 leaflet middle longest is a key characteristic of poison ivy as well as for a number of other plants. |
