Question Asked: I live in Michigan in the SW corner near the Lake. I discovered lots and lots of (what I am now convinced after having seen your informative website is) Poison Ivy. It is growing along the ground basically, on long vines which put out roots every foot or so. Where there are trees nearby it is beginning to climb. I ripped up a bunch the other day when it was still questionable over what it was and my arm itches and is beginning to get bumps. I'm quite sure it is PI, but can you verify? Thank you so much.
Answer: Kim - as I'm sure you know already that was poison ivy. The vine will grow along and up anything possible. The aerial rootlets allow the vine to cling to houses, trees, etc. This looks like it was a pretty healthy batch of plants.
FYI - to those of you reading this, Kim sent in a rash picture. I should have that online today. |
