Virginia Creeper causes a terrible reaction for me. I have never been allergic to poison ivy, and so was surprised when my face and eyes swelled up when I was getting rid of the Virginia Creeper vines along a fence. My doc said perhaps there were poison ivy or oak vines along with it. But last year, again I had a terrible reaction and once again had to take steroids and antihistamine to rid my body of the toxins. I thought using gloves and cleaning my clothing and tools, and of course my arms and hands would work. Not for me!
All I need do is brush against it lightly and this Virginia Creeper causes blisters within 24 hours! |
