|Finally someone posted what I have been saying for months. This is a very safe and effective remedy unlike HOT water treatments which increases blood flow and swelling, sending the oil deeper into the skin layers and can damage already compromised skin. Just because it may feel good at the time doesn't mean it is safe for you to do (exposing yourself to very hot water to relieve itching).
I would just like to add, if using an ice cube is too intense for a tender area (such as when you are in the oozing stage), you can get the same relief from very cold cloths that are wet with cold water. One way to have them always ready is to have extra clean cloths soaking in a bowl of water in the fridge. Whenever you feel the itch coming back they are handy and ready to go. At night, you can keep them on your nightstand in a baggie with ice to keep the cloths cold. This works very well and is much safer for children also. This method also helps with the crusting and oozing of the rash.
