Darla, I had a memorable poison "something" rash when I breastfed in the 1990's. I never thought about whether or not my child would be affected; but as far as I can tell, she wasn't. My rash became infected (maybe from her hot, sweaty head resting on my rashy/irritated arms), requiring antibiotics. Nursing sessions were quite uncomfortable. I can't help wondering, now, if maybe I passed on some immunity to her, since breastmilk is known to have those properties. Good question for a professional to answer? |
