My junior year of high school I accidentally knelt directly on a poison ivy plant while shooting a photograph. That "infection" lasted nearly 3 months, not on my knee mind you but it began to spread apparently along major surface veins and all the while the doctor gave me several steroid shots. To this day, nearly seven years later, I have not been without bumps and itching on some part of my skin, usually my elbows but most severely and inexplicably on my left pinky finger. It anyone thinks it might make a difference: I am left handed. I had been on Clobetsol (a prescription topical steroid) for sometime. It was marginally effective. I currently use Cortisone and other generic OTC creams for this. They stop the itch and reduce the bumps temporarily but nothing has made a permanent difference. I too have been looking for answers (from doctors and on my own) and have gotten few. No one thinks the persistent rash and the poison ivy are related. I think they are. |
