I have a dog that is always running around outside, and could possibly be getting into poison ivy. Now, I'm nervous about him possibly getting into poison ivy, I pet him without knowing, and then eat something, bite my nails, etc., and the oil gets swallowed, causing a swelling reaction in my throat.

Am I over-reacting on this? I assume most people with dogs have them get into poison ivy during the summer without realizing it and probably handle their dog, and you don't hear about people dropping like flies. Is this something where I would really need a lot of ivy to cause a reaction, or is this a legitimate concern?
