Well, I see some people never got back on to update us! LOL I catch poison ivy from my cat all the time. Its usually on my forearms and very mild. IF I touch the actual plant I get it severe. Just this morning I woke up to swollen, itchy lips...I thought it was chapped. As the day goes on I see the blisters forming...so now I assume it is poison ivy. Especially since a few days ago my cat came in and jumped on my lap and bumped his head on my face to get my attention/show affection. Never happened before (the head bumping- he was not tame when I got him so he was very aloof) but now I'll have to not let him do that anymore.
And if anyone says you cant get it in winter time...they need to read up on it...you can get it from dead dried plants, burning (as a few poor souls have mentioned), from handling the roots, and basically anything that has come in contact with the oil from the plant.
