Yes, you can stop it! Wash the suspected affected area as soon as possible in COLD water (even in a cold creek or stream nearby helps if that's all you've got). Use bleach or an oil removing soap like Dawn Dish soap when possible. Also try rubbing area with bruised leaves/stems from antidote plants often found in the same area as the poisonous ones such as Dock, Mugwort or Jewelweed. All work most effectively if used within 10 minutes or so of exposure. Sooner the better, but do it even if it's later! I have also heard it said that a using the homeopathic Rhus Tox (30c) 1 tablet per month will create immunity. So far it's working for me, but I can't guarantee that is the reason. |
