I have been battling this since June 30th. I had virginia creeper, which by the way, is remarkably like poison ivy only it's 5 leaves not 3, and it wreaks havoc on the system. I am allergic to prednisone but my PA put me on dexamethasone which seemed to help for a while. Once I completed the 10 day dose, I developed the hives on my hands and wrists (basically the knuckle of a couple of fingers and one on the knuckle of 1 thumb) about 7 days later which I am currently still battling. I went to the PA again today and she refused to put me on another steroid again and instead gave me triamcinalon which is a topical steroid and I am to still take Zyrtec at night and keep my hands completely moisturized with a fragrance free moisturizer like Vaseline Deep Moisture Creamy Lotion. I have to stay away from heat, hot water, etc. She believes that this is a continuation of the virginia creeper, poison ivy/oak/sumac type incident. The only other thing that feels good is ice on my knuckles and jewelweed which can be found at a health food store. They will keep it in the refrigerator of the health food store and when you get it home, you will keep it in the refrigerator too. I will take a soft cloth and place ice inside and pour some jewelweed on it (it's a liquid containing alcohol too) and place it on my knuckles or any place that itches.

I hope everyone feels better soon! This is horrible but glad to know I'm not alone!
