My daughter was having unexplained rashes and itching all over her face for days and we were assuming it was a food allergy. Yesterday her pediatrician figured out the connection with mangoes. My daughter loves mangoes and particularly asks to eat the fruit off of the peel, where apparently the sap is more present. She's had poison oak before so clearly is allergic to the urushiol. After this experience we will be much more careful about letting her eat mango...no contact with the peel or pit, and washing hands and face after eating it at all!
