I've lived in the northeast my entire life (now 21 years old), and accordingly I've had poison ivy/oak countless times. As a child I still remember gigantic, relentless rashes forming on my body, but it seemed as time went on that my torment dwindled from infection to infection. I'm unsure if my exposure to the oil has coincidentally decreased or my body has become accustomed, dare I say immune, to the vine.
This past week I went black raspberry picking and a day or two later noticed the ominous line of bumps across my forearm. my heart sank, but as days went on the rash and itching were almost immeasurable. This same situation happened a summer or two ago. My main question is if immunity is even possible, but also has anyone else experienced such a thing? |
