I'm looking at the pics of poison ivy, oak and sumac but none look like what got me. Mine looked a lot like an umbrella plant but was a vine. It was nearly 3 inches in diameter at the base and went about 6 feet tall. It was similar to sumac but didn't have a flower or red stems but boy oh boy did it give me a rash much like ivy.
After 3 days I finally went to the dollar store and bought their brand of Antihistamine and hydrocortisone cream and cotton bandage. I put a heavy layer of cream then wrapped my arms. The itch has stopped. Banana peal has worked well for the few spots on my face which just popped up today.
I wish I could have taken a picture of it before I cut it down, it really was a beautiful plant. LOL. It's been growing on the fence for years but since I'm moving I need my fence. I was wearing gloves but my arms were bare, so my hands are fine.
I'm is S.W. Missouri do we have another type of plant here that causes a rash of little tiny bumps that are red and continue to spread even after 3 days?
