In reading the message board, it appears many people feel they can spread the rash to other parts of their body. In reading the information, it appears to say you CAN'T spread it to other parts of your body. If you wash after being exposed to the poison, chances are those parts in contact with the poison will break out, but you are not going to get the oil on your sheets and towels if you have showered and washed as one normally would after working out in the yard. The leakage from the blisters will not spread the poison ivy. Also, I find warm compresses help immensely with the itching-be careful you don't burn your skin by using water that is too hot.
