Neither my husband, nor I, nor our respective mothers recognized the plant as poison ivy. It grew in a shrub surrounded by another ivy look-alike: bishop's weed. The leaves toward the walkway to our front door had dozens of bright red blisters. My mother-in-law said they were insect eggs, but they seemed to be integrated into the leaf. As of yet I have found no pictures on the internet of such a variant in appearance in poison ivy.
We have confirmed it is poison ivy by rash, and through close up viewingwith protection. We removed a huge infestation in a tiny area of our yard, in lower eastern Michigan (late June). I thought it could help someone who might be confused by ivy leaves with many dozens of red blisters or pustule looking things.
Thanks. |
