Hello Barbara, you have a couple of options. If there are only a few sprigs you can just pull it up. I have done this successfully and it did not grow back. However, you need to wear solid vinyl gloves and then take a plastic grocery bag over your hand, pull up the P.I., then fold the bag back down over your hand, and tie. Throw away immediately. This method ensures you get no oil on you. If you have too much P.I. around your english ivy to spray with a weed killer, then spray some into a plastic container, like an old yogurt or margarine tub, and "paint" or drip the mixture on each P.I. plant. You can use an old paint brush or a disposable foam brush. You're going to throw out both container & brush when you are finished because they will be contaminated. It sounds like a lot of work but you need to get it under control before it spreads more. |
