I'm on day 15. I've got it pretty severely with large leathery patches on both arms and both hips. I went through 280 mg of prednisone plus two shots of decadron. And while it seems to be improving in some areas, I'm still getting new lesions after all this time. Is it common to still be getting newly formed spots after over two weeks from the date of exposure?
I saw a dermatologist who really seemed as if he couldn't have cared less and was unable to answer any of my questions. He never heard of systemic poison ivy reactions and told me he doesn't prescribe steroids for his patients---as if that makes HIM tough. I'm just glad he wasn't the first doc I saw. He spent about 90 seconds in the exam room. The guy is a quack if you ask me.
When will this just go away?
