I used an excavator/loader and dug up PI plants. Subsequently the plants were broken, crushed, buried, and moved around in a pile of dirt. Okay - stupidly I thne moved the dirt to a new perennial bed. Got a beauty of a case from forehead to feet, small pustules to masses of weepy outbreaks. Prednisone was prescribed.
Q: Can the urushiol oil be contaminating the dirt?
If so, how long with the oil be active in the soil I've planting perennials into? (I saw on the site that the oil can be viable for centuries on an object - does dirt qualify as an object?)
Q: if the dirt is contaminated and I try to remove it, won't I be releasing the oil back into the air? Thoughts? Suggestions?
This definitely falls under the "lessons learned as a new homeowner" part of life. |
