All it takes is one tiny, pesky posion ivy plant . . .
I found about 4 or 5 tiny plants (no more than 3 inches tall) in a shady area of my garden, close to the side of the house where I've attached my garden hose. Unfortunately, I discovered the plants *after* attaching the hose and then dragging it through them to water the rest of the garden. Of course I immediately put on protective clothing and gear, got rid of the plants and sprayed the area with round-up. I also wiped down as much of the hose as I could with paper towels and isopropyl alcohol 70%.
It didn't do the trick. Now every time I use the hose, unless I am in full "hazmat garden gear" (i.e, long heavy pants, rubber wellies, long sleeves, rubber elbow gloves), I get poison ivy all over my legs and arms. Yesterday I accidentally exposed about a half inch of wrist and of course got 3 bumps there.
What else can I do to get rid of the oil on the hose and the parts of the porch it's touched, short of throwing out the whole hose and repainting the porch railing?
