Absolutely not true. There is a compound found in poison ivy, oak, and sumac called urushiol oil. It's this oil that bonds with our skin to create a protein that our immune system views as an "invader" and causes the overblown allergic reaction. Urushiol oil can be found in other plants such as the Brazillian pepper tree, mango tree, and other members of the Anacardiaceae family.
