This is an old question to respond to, but it may be worthwhile to answer this with the right info. Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, and Poison Sumac have greenish white colored berries when they bear fruit, NOT red. Non-poisonous sumac bears reddish fruit (berries). This does not mean that the man did not experience some kind of dermatitis rash from exposure to the plants he cut & trimmed, especially if he used a weed whacker which spreads plant saps much farther than manually hand clearing the area. Many common plants other than PI, PO or PS can cause rashes on sensitive individuals. The best idea is to wear long sleeves, pants, and gloves when doing such gardening chores to avoid plant sap skin irritations. |
