| I came into contact with poison oak a week ago. I have the worst case and it has spread along my legs, arms and now my tummy and buttocks. The ones on my legs look like burns and welts they are so bad. I went to emerg and they prescribed Demerol for the pain. I am afraid of using Prednisone due to the serious side effects such as requiring hip replacements with usage as short as a week in some. I am so uncomfortable and have scratched the sores down to the bone. I have researched treatment options and now it looks as though the Prednisone tapered over a two week period may help. I can't believe that in this day and age, there aren't better meds....by the way I am in my 40's |
