My husband was pulling weeds about 2 weeks ago and came across something he believes was poison oak. He came into the the house and took a shower to wash off the oils but several days later he broke out on his arms and legs. He tends to scratch the welts more than he should and it took close to a week before the blisters dried up. During this time I washed the bedding about every other day. Needless to say I developed the tell tale blisters on my chest, side and back. I wasn't outside anywhere near weeds for approx. a month before I developed the rash. I would say it was just a coincidence but this is the third year in a row that I have gotten this itchy blistery rash approximately a week after my husband. I believe that because he scratches the welts and the blisters are still oozy that it is still contagious.
