And are the thorns sometimes as long as 3/4 of an inch? And is it incredibly rangy and destructive--able to completely destroy a tree? Do the "sprouts" grow straight up until they find something to cling to? I just dug out a large patch of something like what the first questioner described. Poison Ivy is a huge problem here on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, but all I saw in this patch were these thorned vines which did not seem to produce anything other than torns! I got pretty scratched up stripping them out and a week later, got a mild rash only on my arms (thankfully) that looks more like a bad case of acne than the rashes pictured on this site.
