Not necessarily. There are several characterisitics that combined help in the identification of poison ivy. Woody vine, 3 leaflets per leaf, alternating leaves on the stem - these are some key identification traits.
FYI - I was recently standing in a patch of poison ivy and the leaflets were not shiny. No it was not intentional that i stand in it but I had to trudge throught it nevertheless. Oh and no rash but I was well suited (long sleeves, long pants, my outdoor work shoes) and cleaned up properly. |
