Shelly, I contacted the poison ivy last Thursday and am now on Prednisone also, but mine is in 10mg pills. My directions were to start out with 6 pills, all at once, for 5 days, 5 pills, same, for 2 days, 4 pills,same, for 2 days, 3 pills, same, for 2 days, 2 pills, same, for 2 days, 1 pill for 2 days. I tend to think the other girl maybe messed up on the dosing. My RX gave me a typed out piece of paper with check boxes on it so I could keep up with it easier. The itching was down to hardly nothing by this morning, but I do have one place that is about 2" long that is broken skin and really looks bad, but I also have the Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.5% cream to put on it also for 4x a day and it seems to help that spot. It just looks really bad and is red all around it. If it gets worse, I will go see my ENT about it, but my primary care dr. gave me the two Rx's on Monday. Hope this helps, but I don't think I would have taken anymore than 6 pills the first day. You can OD on the steriods and they will keep you awake sometimes at night,so take benadryl,and they can make you jitterly and speed up you heart rate but will clear up you sinuses and help with any arthritis you might have. I have been on them several times for sinus infections. Take care,
