I've come down with my first case of poison ivy, on my stomach, and can only track it to my dog, who escaped from our back yard recently and went on a frolic in the nearby creek. In researching the subject, I find that animals can carry the oil on their skin, so my question is: for how long, and what can be done to clean the animal so they quit spreading the oil. Would wiping down the dog vigorously with an isopropyl alcohol solution work, as I note that's a pre-blister treatment for humans on effected areas?
