Patricia, sorry about what happened. I was going to say you probably wiped yourself with a leaf that causes contact dermatitis but then you mentioned a "tick". What did this bug look like? You see, ticks and a body louse look different.

Ticks are a biting insect similar to fleas. They are blood feeders, and are attracted to all mammals, including people and pets. Typically they will wait at the top of a blade of grass or in low-lying foliage. When an animal or human comes along, they leap on to it for a meal. They are dark in color. This could be your culprit, but maybe not.

A body louse (lice), (slang term "crabs") which in this case would be the kind that live in the pubic hair, are tan to grayish white colored. Pubic lice are parasites that feed on the blood of humans also. They have six legs and are crab-like in appearance. The front two legs are larger with crab-like claws at the ends designed to grasp hairs. They can live up to 48 hrs. off of a human host on towels, mattresses, sheets, clothing. You do not have to have sex with someone to get them. I always read that you cannot get them from toilet seats but this info is WRONG. My friends and I used to go to a bar that was always so crowded you had to wait forever to get a stall--and when you did, you had to rush to finish so fast, or girls would be pounding on the door for you to get out. I saw pubic lice alive and well on a toilet seat once. I was stunned and grossed out. This proves that a person with an infestation can leave lice behind on a seat and they will readily hop onto the next person that sits down. Thank God I saw them in time. That also taught me to ALWAYS listen to my mother and NEVER sit on public toilet seats or at a stranger's house, a big house party, etc. Family toilets I would trust but nowhere else. If you were at a party with tons of people, and you walked in right behind the last person who sat on the toilet (man or woman), they could transfer lice to you if they were infested. Or from towels. In any case, when a tick or lice bite and suck blood from you, they leave a red bump and you itch just like a mosquito bite.

Until you post what the bug in your pants looked like I can't tell you what to do next. [email protected]
