I have spent the summer removing PI from our large country yard trying to make it safer for our children. I have been a victim of the intense itchy plague since May. I've tried about everything they said in this site (except the banana peel) and have found the rash and itching are best controlled (not totally healed) by washing daily with Zanfel ($35-$40 per tube.) followed by any one of the 1,000 other remedies sporatically throughout the day.
The Zanfel reduces the itching from "insanely intense" to very-very-mild. Once you've reduced the intense itch, then any home remedy can be used to address the itch that occurs when your rash is accidentally bumped or something rubs over it. Throughout the day use any of the 1,000 suggestions in this site to remove the occasional urge to itch. I use hair gel or pump spray throughout to day, because I can buy it at the dollar store for a buck, I can carry it in my purse, it smells good, and I can apply it in public if necessary. But relief is only for 1 or 2 hours. You still need that daily washing with Zanfel to give you a more complete itch relief before going to bed.
Each weekend I am re-infected by the PI I am removing. But it has been good for the kids to have it out of the yard.
Good Luck,
Annie in Illinois
