Hey Jeff. I see your dilemma. I would get a plastic hose end sprayer container (the kind that has a few cups capacity and screws onto your garden hose) add 1 cup of grease cutting liquid detergent and 1 cup of brown mouthwash (like Listerine) swirl to stir, turn on your water and let the ingredients mix, then spray the whole area very well until past the point of run off. This will make the oils drip down off whatever vegetation is there and go into the soil. Contrary to what most people think, "shampooing" your yard is really good for your plants and lawns! I learned this over 12 years ago from Master Gardener Jerry Baker. Wear long sleeves, long pants and rubber gloves while doing this to protect yourself just in case you would get a splatter. You can even wear a black trash bag over your clothes (cut out areas for your head and arms.) You can use this treatment to keep your lawn and plants in good shape by giving it a bath every month--but use Baby Shampoo instead of the stronger soap for the PI. Throw in a can of beer into your sprayer too (for your lawn.) My grass loves it (burp) Sorry it has bad manners. LOL. [email protected]
*** I have found that local Dollar Stores carry big bottles of Baby Shampoo & Brown type Mouthwash that is great for this job and saves you lots of money over the national brands. If you have a smaller area to cover, just add 1/4 to 1/2 cups of each of the ingredients. I use 1 cup of each because I have a large property. NEXT SPRING look for new shoots of PI! If you see any, shoot them with Ortho Brush B Gon! Good luck! |
