Hi Chris. Fever, nausea, and chills can happen in more severe cases of PI. The rash you get is an immune response to the oil, so your immune system is in attack mode, the same as if you had a viral or bacterial infection, so you can feel flu-like sometimes. If you find yourself having these symptoms along with very tender, hot, pus filled (not watery) blisters, then you most likely have a secondary infection in your open blisters and you need antibiotics. When your blisters ooze, your skin is most vulnerable and you should not use some of the crazy treatments you find on here. Use good common sense and treat your skin with care.
