I found that the heat from a hot shower provided immediate gratification from an itching perspective. The heat, however, definitely seemed to inflame the rash ... a result of increased blood flow to the site I suppose. I got fairly good results by applying cold water / ice packs, using Caladryl lotion and taking Benedryl.

My rashes are now in the process of drying up, which has brought on a renewed itchiness. Hot water doesn't seem to impact this phase of the rash. I'm sticking with the cold water and now am applying a cream put out by Aveeno that contains hydrocortizone and some form of oatmeal extract. I actually find the itch associated with the dyring of the rashed A LOT more bothersome than the previous rash itchiness.
