Hi everyone. I wanted to share a discovery I made earlier today. I bought a jar of BLUE ICE ANALGESIC GEL for my poison ivy itching and am happy to say it works better than the 20 other products I bought in the past (over the counter or prescription) for itching. It contains Menthol (attributes to the cool feel) and camphor, deionized water, isopropyl alcohol. It was created for muscle & joint aches and pains but when I saw the ingredients, I knew it would help deaden the itch of the rash--but I am amazed at how well it works! Other advantages of this product are, it is a clear, thin gel,(which looks better than calamine lotion or creams when you have to be in public or at work) can be used up to 4 times a day, and is safe for everyone over the age of 2. After you rub it in, it will itch & tingle slightly due to your touching the rash. In a minute or so, that will subside and it will feel cool & itch free for hours. The coolness wears off after a few hours but the itchy sensation doesn't come back when that happens. Wish I would have discovered this stuff last year when I had a really severe case of poison ivy. Anyhow, I found this at my local Dollar Store! But, I have seen BLUE ICE gels at the drugstore too. **Remember Cortisone and other anti-itch creams containing Cortisone can be dangerous and can thin your skin.
