Hi, I'm 52 years old and have just had poison ivy for the first time in my life. I moved into a house with timber behind me. Not knowing any better, I noticed huge hairy vines growing up many of my trees. I decided to ax and hack saw these vines so that they would die and all the leaves growing from them would die too. It worked. However, I got a severe rash without knowing where it came from. Finally today I was on this website and saw the pictures of the hairy vines on the trees and now know that is exactly where my rash came from. My question is this: When the leaves fall off these vines now or in the fall when all the leaves drop, will touching the dead leaves still be dangerous?? If so, I'm in for some trouble as I have many trees with huge hairy vines and leaves surrounding my property. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
