Oh, John, I hear ya! I'm on day 18 (feels like even more) and my little pesky scabby thingies are driving me nuts as well; although, on a happy note, not as frequently as earlier. As other posters have reiterated, everyone's immune system and response is different - sooooo, no clear-cut answer about duration. Just try to be patient, and, perhaps consider doing something that helped me. I switched from "CalaGel" to "Caladryl" (pink stuff) a few days ago and it is giving good relief.
