Hi folks, I am doing some research for a story about poison ivy (if it is worse this year or not) and came across this board. I had an awful outbreak two years ago. I had never had it or even knew what the plant looked like. I had been clearing my dad's yard and apparently most of what I was clearing, vines and all, was poison ivy and maybe sumac.
Anyway, it spread like crazy. Anywhere my clothing rubbed against my skin, I had an outbreak. I took oatmeal baths to soothe the itching, and tried ointments and all, but eventually wound up taking steroids to end the cycle of break-outs.
