| I have never had a rash from poison ivy, poison oak, or sumac until now. My husband hasn't either. Though we have both been around it growing up. We took a job cleaning a fence in Austin. Little did we know that there was poison ivy growing in with all the other stuff. We cleaned a good sized section of the fence on Monday. On Wensday my husband said he had a rash of some sort. It was just a few small bumps on his arms. I also had a few bumps but we didn't have any blisters. I decided to look up the rash, it pointed to PI. I found your site and began looking through the pictures of pi, po and sumac. Come to find out we have all of it growing in our yard. We have 5 kids ages 15 - 1. They have all been out in it. I am not sure how they have excaped getting a rash or anything from it. I was out cutting some of it, with no gloves, in shorts and a tank top. We have been very lucky. But thanks to the pictures, I can cut most of it back. My biggest question is, what will kill it? Is there anyway to get rid of it from our yard? We have over an acre and I don't want them to end up with a bad case. As for all of you that are having so much trouble with, I wish you all good luck. |
