I have the same question - we had what looked like a tall weed along our house in downtown Chicago last year...cut it down...now I think the 2 30 footers behind the property (and the one of our neighbors) is either Sumac or Oak. Is that possible? I don't think it's a real tree- all the branches are always green and the branches shed once it gets super-cold.
