The only way it spreads is coming in contact with the liquid from the blisters. Touching the rash itself don't, only if the blisters pop.
To clean, take straight pine sol, or lysol, and spray on carpet.
Sheets wash in bleach, or pine sol, lysol. Anything that kills bacteria.
As far as walking in your barefeet on your carpet, I'd play it safe an saturate it with those things I've mentioned. Let a fan dry your carpet. Small inexspensive ones I'd throw away.
