Having read the thread, I'm fascinated, first at the fervor caused by my least favorite plant, and second, by the lack of reason among the nay-sayers. Let me remind those latter posts that inhilation is not ingestion. I don't recall anyone recommending one smoke PI. That, of course, would be disaster and just plain stupid. Pulmonary scilia is damaged by any smoke inhilation, and any toxins embedded within said smoke will go directly to the blood stream. ON THE OTHER HAND, ingesting PI through one's digestive tract may be frightening, but it is far from inhilation. Human mucous apparently acts as a protective barrier against the nasty oil. I have never actually heard of a case of toxicity caused by the INGESTION of PI. Not to say there may be exceptions, but none that I am aware. It is, in fact, the same principle as the immunization process, which is provided by the medical community (for a substantial cost).
Secondly, to refer to a dermatologist as an expert in internal medicine is a bad idea. Dermatologists are purveyors of topical cream, and on rare occaision, oral antibiotics for topical condition. The good ones can recognize the difference between a topical fungus and a pimple. Do not reference dermatology when it comes to ingesting ANYTHING. |
