I am deeply concerned about answers to questions about spreading of the rash. I was allergic to Poison Ivy as a young child. Moved to Fla. and only was exposed to Poison Ivy in the north. I actually brushed up against some in the late winter even with snow on the ground.

All my rashes spread to different areas of my body. Many times it went from knee to knee and /or where knee or elbow bent to the other side of exposed skin and sure enough a new crop of rash begins. Yes the oil spreads , but here is the very distinction it can spread from spot to spot on your body which did not get exposed to in the beginning, but by contact with the oil from rash infected area to area. Hence you can be treating this for as long as a month or so.

I will go as far to say that I know friends who had a little girl with poison ivy rash come over to their home touch a cup or table and oil must have been left on these surfaces and the host and her daughter came in contact with it and both had rashes ocur from it.

With all due respect, I am a registed Nurse who is allergic to Poison Ivy myself and I can tell you firsthand it CAN spread from one rash to another. This is a serious misconception that needs to be reported for accuracy. Ask any one who has had this very horrible rash and they will tell you the same things I have experienced.

With good intentions....
