I know this is an old thread, but this might be useful for someone in the future.
The Oral-Ivy preparation is marketed as "homeopathic." This means that no FDA tests need be required for safety or efficacy. It also means that, due to typically high dilutions, there is little or no active ingredient remaining in the preparation (hence it is probably harmless), although I have been unable to come up with an ingredient list or dilution ratio.
Also notice that the only two clinical studies known were done in the 1950's without adequate controls, and they have not been replicated or even attempted since to my knowledge. It is highly unlikely that this preparation has any effect on anything other than your wallet.
Testimonials seem to be the only "evidence" available. Scientifically, testimonials are worthless except to advertising executives. Save your money and drink a glass of water instead. If you can convince yourself, it will prevent poison ivy outbreaks just as well. |
