IF you know you have been exposed: Take cool shower with lots of scrubbing, soap, technu, and or detergent to remove oils as soon as possible (?up to 4-6 hours).
If you start itching from questionable or unknown exposure: Cleanse area thoroughly with technu, detergent, soap, etc.
Do not underestimate the ability of the PO oil to be spread by hands, sheets, towels, clothing. Wash everthing ASAP. Remember: you will not know it has spread for 2-3 days. Use prophylactic measures!
Nearly scalding hot water has become my primary treatment for the itching. It causes an immediate 10 second extremely intense "itch-scratch" sensation (almost orgasmic!), and then the histamine has all been spent or inactivated and one has 6-10 hours of itch free relief (depending on temperature, stress, sweat, etc). When it itches again...give it the old nearly scalding treatment again. Topical meds provide some less effective relief.
Best of all: learn its appearance well, and avoid it. |
