I have a miniature pomeranian in the hospital. In the morning, she was healthy and vigorous when we took let her into the back yard. Within an hour or so of coming back inside, she began vomiting foam mixed with bits of chewed leaves. Within 4 more hours, she was defecating almost pure blood. We took her to the vet where he gave her a variety of things, including Vitamin K1 to improve blood clotting. An hour later she began vomiting blood as well. We rushed her to the animal hospital where she seems to have stabilized and is being rehydrated.

I've just toured the back yard and found, to my surprise, a patch of poison ivy. Would eating poison ivy produce these symptoms in dogs or people? I'd really like to avoid a re-occurance of this, as I'm sure my dog would as well!
