I am just ending my 7th round of poison ivy (in the past three years). Three weeks ago, I had a simple itch on my wrist. Instantly, I counted 18 mosquito looking bites on my wrist. The next day I had an 8 inch line of bubbles the size of vitamin E pills on my arm. Days later it spread all over my body. I stay away from the areas in my yard that may have poison ivy, I wash everything that I come in contact with, I take all of the necessary precautions to avoid getting poison ivy. It pops out of nowhere!!! Last year I got it after several frosts. Can it be that, like chicken pocks, it remains in your system forever and comes out when it wants? Doctors and alergists have told me that there is nothing that I can do but go on the tons of steroids each time that I break out with. Paranoia is now setting in. I dressed up yesterday like a mummy just to mow my lawn. Does anyone have any advice? I'm desperate!!!
