poison ivy scarring

I am putting lotion the doctor gave me on my poison ivy and I had a cortizone shot given to me monday. The redness and itching is still there? The sun scares. Does poison ivy scar? and if so...do I need to wait until it's 100% gone to get in the sun? Thanks! Janice
