It is possible for poison ivy to have 5 or 9 leaves but it is not as common. As far as the thorns that would not be poison ivy. I have just purchased a home on half an acre and I have an area LOADED with p/i. The stuff is unreal but I have something that looks like a huge rose bush as well. There is a thorny bush growing all over the same area. It seems to spread the same way poison ivy does with its roots. I have chopped away at it and of course ended up with a rash from p/i. It sound like you have a similar situation. My suggestion would be to remove the thorny thing with care as poison ivy may be hidden among it. |
